Roy W. Syring, 67, Mosinee, died peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018, with his family at his side.
Roy was born on Nov. 6, 1950 in Wausau, WI, to the late Elmer and Nora (Rheinschmidt) Syring. He married Debra Vanish on March 27, 1982 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Mosinee, WI. She survives.
Roy was a Journeyman Plumber for his entire working career, he was taught the trade skill by his father, who he had the pleasure of working alongside for many years. Roy was proud to have served in the US Army as a Radioteletype Operator. He attended Army Airborne School and made 3 jumps out of a plane. He was a very dedicated member of the Mosinee VFW Post 8733, and a member of American Legion Rothschild 492. He was proud to take the May 2016 trip to Washington D.C. for the honor flight.
He enjoyed attending social events such as Mercer Loon Days, Polish Fest and Church Picnic in Rudolph, and especially the Wednesday breakfast at Denny’s with all his comrades. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He was proud of his faith in God, as he was welcome as a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Roy always enjoyed his country music and was an avid train lover. His biggest passion in his life was his family, especially his grandchildren, Garrett, Ashlynn and Colton.
Survivors, besides his wife Debra; include a daughter, Rebecca (James) Hull, Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Garrett, Ashlynn and Colton; two brothers, Glen (Susan) Syring, Ocean Springs, MS, David Syring, Marshfield; and two nieces, Rachel and Michelle.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, starting with a parish prayer service, and at 6 p.m. there will be a VFW service. Visitation will be again from 9 a.m. Friday, until time of services at the church. Online condolences can be made at www.bestefh.com.
