Kaytlyn Madison Thomas passed away as the victim of a car accident on Monday, July 12, 2021. Kaytlyn was born on June 28, 2003 to Ronald and Janelle Thomas in Wausau, Wisconsin. She attended Mosinee Schools, graduating on May 28, 2021. She skated with Mosinee Silverblades for 10 years competing with the Synchro teams at Badger State Winter games. She played volleyball in middle school, her freshman year of high school, and several years of club volleyball. Kaytlyn was currently employed by Michael’s retail craft store in Rib Mountain for two years, including throughout the pandemic as a dedicated frontline worker.
Kaytlyn had plans to attend UW-Stout this fall majoring in Fashion Design & Marketing. She was so excited about starting the next chapter of her life. She aspired to model and work in New York City upon graduation from Stout. Her role model was the character Rachel Green from Friends. She thought being a clothing buyer for a high end fashion designer would be an amazing career. Kaytlyn was meant for the fashion world. She had a sense for fashion and pairing outfits together, accessories and all! She was a tremendous makeup artist. She had planned to shadow a family friend who owned their own boutique to gain a better understanding of running her own fashion related business.
Kaytlyn loved spending time with her niece Ivy, shopping at Forever 21, thrifting at Goodwill, getting her nails done, and hanging out with her many friends.
Words can not begin to express the deep loss and sorrow that those who loved Kaytlyn are experiencing. She was adored by so many people who were excited about her future and seeing her many gifts & talents transform. Kaytlyn is survived by her parents, Ronald and Janelle and five siblings, Ryan (Emily McQuillin) and their daughter Ivy; Jaelyn, Lauryn, Addisyn and Carsyn; her grandparents David Thomas, Marjorie (Dave) Debevec-Marksteiner, Erv and Dixie Kieffer, great-grandparents Bob and Evelyn Wojcik, Betty Fredette, and Betty Marksteiner, her Uncle Dave (June Vick) Thomas, Aunt April (Brad) Schmidt and cousins, Caleigh, Marissa, Nolan, and Eliot along with numerous great aunts and uncles.

Additionally, the family is accepting donations to advocate for Kaytlyn’s Law - a proposition currently being drafted by the family to require additional accident prevention technologies in new cars. Her death was senseless and preventable and shall not be in vain. A letter has already been sent to the White House requesting support. We ask you to support it too.
