Thomas "Tommy/Tom” Vernon Pagel, 77, of Wausau, WI passed away peacefully Sunday, February 16, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Tom was born November 29, 1947, to Vernon and Marie (Gebhard) Pagel. He graduated from Marathon High School in 1965. Tom is a US Army Vietnam Veteran serving from February 13, 1968, to February 12, 1970, earning several decorations. On July 26, 1969, he married Gloria Anderson, enjoying 55 years of adventures together. They resided in Wausau where Tom worked at Wausau Papers until his retirement after 39 years.
Tom was a member of Mission Evangelical Church where he served as president and deacon for many years. Tom helped with the construction of Camp Blessing and the new church buildings along with assisting in many other ways.
Tom enjoyed spending time with family playing Sheepshead, Rook or any card game. He also enjoyed working on anything mechanical, wood working, tinkering on his computer, hunting, fishing, watching nature on his game cameras, camping (which he made his first camper) along with many other hobbies. He was very reliable, knowledgeable and would help anyone in need. If something broke he could always find a way to fix it.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Gloria, children Philip (Tanya) Pagel, Ruth Lashua, daughter-in-law Sandy Pagel, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 8 sisters, 3 brothers and many nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his son Eugene Pagel, parents and brother John Pagel.
Per Tom’s wishes, no formal service will be held at this time. There will be a private ceremony at a future date. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
