Connie Vanney, of Mosinee (formerly of Rothschild, WI) died April 9, 2018 at the Hospice House in Wausau, surrounded by her family.
She was admired and loved deeply by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and served as a gentle, caring, role model to them and so many others. She had a quiet strength and led by example. She always had a kind word and genuine concern for others. Connie had an endless amount of patience and held an optimist outlook and a non-judgmental attitude. She was always there for others, encouraging them in their goals and pursuits or helping them through their struggles.
Her joys in life included spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren. She traveled to many parts of the world. She also loved sewing, embroidering, knitting, quilting, and learning new crafts. She loved decorating for Christmas, baking and gardening. Many were privileged to receive a wonderful gift made by Connie. She took great pride in knowing she played a part in teaching her children and grandchildren many of the talents she held. She loved to spend time at her parents’ cabin on Emma Lake in Rhinelander WI, her hometown, and later renting cottages near there with her adult siblings and their children. Rhinelander remained a special place in her heart all her life.
Her career in life was being a mother and managing their home. After her children were older she worked as a bookkeeper at IGA Quality Foods in Rothschild. She greatly enjoyed her co-workers and seeing neighbors and friends who shopped at the store during her work day.
Connie was also an avid sports fan. She loved attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. She followed golf on television (Tiger Woods was her favorite) and fervently cheered on her Green Bay Packers.
