Vernelle Carazalla of the Village of Maine, joined her husband, William and daughter Debra Voigt in heaven on April 13, 2025.
She was born March 7, 1933, in Athens to the late Agnes (Meyer) and Emil Balz. She married William Carazalla, the love of her life, on January 16, 1952. William preceded her in death on September 6, 2006. They were married for 54 years.
Vernelle and Bill farmed prior to operating Carazalla Excavating and Trucking, Inc. and Scotsman Service Station. They then operated Brides World and Formal Wear until their retirement.
For many years, along with their family, they enjoyed volunteering at St. Anne’s Polka Fest.
Over the course of eight years, they had a foster home for teenage girls. During this time, they were raising their own 5 children. It was a very gratifying and enjoyable time for everyone.
The most enjoyable and important times were spent with their family. Holidays and special events were always memorable times for relatives and friends in the Carazalla home.
Vernelle and Bill especially enjoyed their ballroom and polka dancing with many special friends.
Vernelle enjoyed reading, watching the Brewers and Packers and her favorite TV shows. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and watching the birds.
She leaves behind four children: Maggie (James) Dvorak of LaCrosse, William (Mary) Carazalla, Jr. of Village of Maine, Susan (Daniel) Seubert of Edgar and Sherrie (Tom) Harenda of Village of Maine.
She is survived by her grandchildren; Wayne (Chuck) Voigt, Jr., Bryce (Kristin) Dvorak, Breanna Dvorak, Danyelle (Josh) Eberhardt, Brandon (Sara) Seubert, Corey (Krystal) Carazalla, Chelsie Carazalla, Craig (Jenelle) Seubert, and Angela Seubert. Great grandsons Easton and Knox Eberhardt, Oliver, Kase, Paxton and Asher Seubert. Great granddaughters Taylor Peterson, Alexis Gonzalez, Morgan Carazalla, and Aavyia Wiensch. Her sister Beverly Gruening and sisters-in-law Janet, Henrietta, and Betty Baltz. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Carazalla, Sr., daughter Debra Voigt, parents Agnes and Emil Balz and in-laws Charles and Minnie Carazalla, step-mother Leila Balz, brothers Robert, Donald, Duane and Kenneth Baltz, sister Carol Gruening, sisters-in-law Mary Baltz and Helen Haroldson, son-in-law Wayne Voight, Sr., brothers-in-law Arnold Ahrensdorf, Melvin Gruening, Russel Haroldson, Sr. and nephew Russel Haroldson, Jr.
As per her wishes, there will be a memorial service at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until time of service, at the church. Vernelle will join her beloved William as she is laid to rest beside him at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, WI.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the family, where a memorial will be set up at a later date.
